FAQ
You've got questions, and we've got answers!
Here's a list of the most common questions we hear.
We're so excited to see you! For the first class, you should wear comfortable clothing you can move around in. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of your first class to fill out the trial waiver and get your uniform. From there, you will meet your instructor who will welcome you and give a few basic pointers so that you feel comfortable and ready for your first class!
Nearly all new students experience nervousness, feeling unsure of what to expect in their first class. We never force a child to be or stay on the mat - if they are more comfortable watching for the first class, that is totally fine! We make class as fun and inviting as possible to encourage them to join in, but never pressure them. When they are ready to join in, our instructors and fellow students make sure they feel very welcome and make sure the skills they learn are easy and fun to master so they're eager to return!
Absolutely, everyone is welcome! We'd be happy to have you join us to watch a class, and are available to answer any questions you may have as well. If you can, please give us a head's up ahead of time so that we know you're coming - that way an instructor can say hello and introduce themselves to you before class begins.
Proper attire is a must! Full uniform and belt are acceptable in class. During the summertime, DMA T-shirts and pants are allowed. T-shirts need to be tucked in. Any shirts or other attire with foul language or offensive imagery will not be allowed in class (on or off the mat). Long hair must be tied up and jewelry removed. For more info on this, see the studio policies in your enrollment packet.
Attendance is unlimited! You can come to as many classes per week as you like for your age group and belt rank. You are not limited to "assigned" class days, so there's more flexibility and options when/if your schedule changes each week!
